What is GOTHIC?

Our production of Macbeth can be described as "gothic". What does that mean to yall? What does it mean to be "gothic" or "goth"? The term has been used to describe all sorts of things for hundreds of years. I'd like to hear from members of the cast. What is GOTHIC?

TRIPP PANTS! Just kidding.
My opinion on what "gothic" is, is that it is a type of literature and art that has dark elements. You can take a beautiful red rose, turn the pedels black, and add a little blood on it, and you have a
"gothic" flower. You can turn a self portrait of yourself thats all bright and happy, into a dark and depressing paiting (with maybe some blood coming out of your eyes). You can turn a wonderful tale of happieness from the old days, into a crazy Edgar Allan Poe story.

Idk how to really explain it, but there is what I think.

Well "Goth(ic)" can be many different things exp: architecture, books, feelings, art music, a subculture, a language as of the Goth's from German also can be an alphabet. It can be many different things. When people hear gothic they think of the subculture and they think of the darkness to it. Which is far from the truth. Gothic is only as dark as one might precieve it. Thats what I feel "Goth(ic)" means.

John and Matt, you are both correct.

Dude, Gothic is whatever you make it out to be.

When I think of the term, "Gothic," I think of dark and cold steel buildings. The stone churches from dark ages. The bloodshed. The craziness. I think of old viking warriors, too... Ha. But, also, since we live in the time that we do, I also think of Tripp Pants, Blood, HOTTOPIC! [Haha. Even if they're like emo scene now...] and many gothic/black metal bands and their music. ORGAN MUSIC! BWAHAHA.

That's all for Ross now, oh and also, ByeBye Hut!
